The Betelgeuse Sector is at the core of the Ascendancy, and contains some of their earliest colonies. Although the densest, rimward portion of the sector is dominated by the Ascendancy's [[:Noble Houses]], the more sparse coreward segment is claimed by the Free Union, and a large portion of their military forces patrol the region to discourage hostility from the Ascendancy and [[:Dominion]], The Betelgeuse Sector bore the most brutal fighting of the [[:timeline#First Tulaki Invasion]], where the seemingly unstoppable armada of the Dominion was finally blunted in the Arda System.
