Gulf of Cetus

The Gulf of Cetus is a titanic emptiness, a matter-sparse void between the Orion and Saggitarius Arms of the Milky Way galaxy. It stretches all the way from the galactic core, and ends only at the relatively matter-rich clump that lies around the Saggital Bridge Sector. This is actually just a convenient fiction - the Gulf of Cetus and its counterpart, the Libran Rift are in reality one entity, merely interrupted in a small area by an errant globule of stars and dust.

Sectors

The Gulf of Cetus is vast, and extends far beyond known space, spiralling towards the galactic core. The parts of it close enough to inhabited space have been divided into sectors. As with all rifts, Cetus Gulf sectors are distinguished with a letter in the ancient Terran Greek alphabet, increasing with their distance from the Sol System. The Gulf has had five sectors designated from it, which would likely increase as exploration pushed outwards towards the distant Crescent Nebula.
