Glowfish Toxin

Glowfish toxin is extracted from the spinal venom glands of the glowfish, a menacing pest that has established itself in several frozen oceanic worlds in the Hyades Sector. Its eggs are very hardy and the glowfish has been transplanted to many worlds, where it often becomes an invasive pest. The toxin is usually mild enough only to be a hazard to other small fish predators, but when administered in sufficient concentrations can overstimulate the vascular systems of most soponts.

OOC Game Information

Glowfish Toxin is a type of Exotic Biotic - an Exotic Substance related to Life Science. A physrep of a vial of liquid can be used to represent a few measures of this substance, but particularly large physreps can hold more.

When applied to a character with Locational Hits, a measure of Glowfish Toxin allows them to continue to use damaged limbs that are on 0 hits as if they still had Locational Hits remaining. This ability only affects the limbs - you still become Badly Injured or Unconscious when brought to 0 Locational Hits on the Torso or Head respectively. While under the effect of Glowfish Toxin, as soon as you reach 0 hits on any location you begin your Death Count. On characters with Global Hits rather than Locational Hits, Glowfish Toxin has no benefit - they will go Unconscious when reduced to 0 Global Body Hits and will also begin their Death Count.

As with all Exotic Substances, a character with at least 1 rank in the relevant speciality (Life Science in this case) can spend 1 minute of appropriate roleplaying to apply 1 measure of Glowfish Toxin to a character. After this roleplaying, they should unpeel the sticker that represents this substance, stick it to the target's character sheet, and record the current date and time on it. All of the effects of this substance wear off two hours after it is applied.
